Medicus Juniors Kick Off Emerald Coast Junior Tour with Wins January 26, 2010
Posted by medicusdestin in News.add a comment
Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour kicked off its season Sunday 24th with an educational and fun start.
Chris and Michele Poate, Tour Directors, believed that the time had come for the tour to provide a more in-depth educational opportunity regarding the rules of the game for junior golfers of all ages. Chris and Michele brought in FSGA Senior Rules Official Tony Capano to host a one hour rules seminar for players and parents.
Following the rules seminar players of all ages competed in a 9 hole, 3 club, par 3 event on the hilly Rocky Bayou golf course. Depending on age, players tee shots ranged from 50 to 125 yards. With windy conditions and not being able to change golf clubs, Medicus Junior Development Players did not disappoint as they won two out of the six age divisions.
Leading the way was Madison Pacheco who won the 12-14 girls age group with an awesome 1-under par 26 from the 100 yard markers. Achieving his first victory, Patrick Poate shot a 3-over par 30 and this was with a double bogey on the last hole following a birdie on his eighth hole. From what I hear Patrick got a little ahead of himself but none the less, awesome job.
Many of you reading this might think that playing from 50-125 yards would be an easy exercise. I challenge you to try because you will quickly see that the short game that most people think they have is far from up to level needed for low scores. At Medicus Golf, though juniors and adults tire of us making them due short game drills and practice, the reward is immeasurable. Part of our development process is the taking players to 50-100 yards and having the play 9-18 holes to see how good or bad their short games are. As the old saying goes, “Figures don’t lie, liars figure.” A great example of this type of testing was done on one of our tour players in early 2009 who was on the leaderboard at the British Open in 2008. With a full bag of clubs and from 100 yards he could not shoot under par. This should show just how good the above juniors were at ages 11 and 12 with only 3 clubs.
This Sunday, January 31st, the Emerald Coast Junior Tour kicks off the official start of the 2010 season with the first event being held at Gator Lakes GC. Besides being the first event of the tour season it also kicks of the Medicus Cup Series which is a six tournament series where junior golfers can earn exemptions to AJGA events. The AJGA is the major leagues of junior golf.
Congrats to Madison and Patrick and we look forward to a sizzling 2010 season.

Fighting through windy and cold conditions, new Medicus Golf Junior Development player Elizabeth Kim shot 76-83 to finish 2nd at the SJGT Sanctuary Cove Junior Classic in Waverly Georgia. Playing in the 12-14 Female age group, Elizabeth was tied for the lead after regulation play with two other golfers. After tying on the first playoff hole, the second hole spelled the end for Elizabeth’s run at the title. But, it took a spectacular 72-foot birdie putt to defeat her.
Elizabeth plays and practices out of the Medicus Golf Performance Center at Jones Creek Golf Club in Augusta Georgia. Her development is overseen by Chuck Evans, Executive Director of Instruction for Medicus Golf and Golf Magazine TOP 100 Teachers in America as well as Medicus Swingology Certified Instructors BJ Hathaway and Carlos Santos.
Congratulations Elizabeth on your find performance and we look forward to much success for the 2010 season. With Elizabeth’s hard work and dedication, her future is very bright.

The above just highlights those successes of our local juniors in the Florida Panhandle and do not reflect the success already being seen at the NEW Medicus Golf Performance Center at Jones Creek GC in Augusta Georgia as well as those juniors who are scattered, not only across the United States, but also in Europe, Australia and around the globe.
Congratulations to all our junior golfers and families for it is you, the junior players, who have the tough job of taking it to the “field of play”, the golf course, and putting in all the work necessary for improvement. To all the families, none of this is possible without your support but not only that; it is you that experience the ups and downs of players as you painfully watch from outside the ropes.
We look forward with anticipation to the 2010 golf season and what it has in store for all our players, parents and coaches!

Medicus Golf Opens Learning Center in Augusta Georgia, Plans Expansion Across U.S. and Overseas December 3, 2009
Posted by medicusdestin in General Instruction, News.comments closed
Augusta, GA (PRWEB) December 3, 2009 — Medicus Golf announced today the opening of the Medicus Golf Learning Center at Jones Creek Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. With the opening of this new center, Medicus Golf begins the first stage of its planned strategic expansion into markets throughout the continental United States and overseas.
Indoor Hitting Bays in the Medicus Golf Learning Center at Jones Creek GC, Augusta Georgia.
At the new 2,700 square foot Jones Creek facility, expert instructors from the Medicus Golf Institute work with the latest in golf performance technology and club fitting to create an unparalleled learning experience for golfers of all skill levels.
“Jones Creek Golf Club is the perfect venue for this new Medicus facility,” said Chuck Evans, executive director of the Medicus Golf Institute and a Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher. “Students have access to top Medicus Golf Institute instructors, state-of-the-art golf technology, and an exceptional golf course in Jones Creek.”
Instructional programs planned for the Medicus Golf Learning Center at Jones Creek include Medicus’ flagship junior development program, as well as private lessons and golf schools for adults and families. Curriculum for the programs is provided by Medicus Certified Swingology Instructors under the direction of Evans. As quality instruction must be complemented by quality equipment, the facility will offer students custom fit clubs from Callaway, Mizuno, Ping, TaylorMade and Titleist.
Medicus Golf Institute instructors based at Jones Creek take advantage of the latest in instructional technology, including the V1 Digital Coaching System and the
FlightScope launch monitor system. Together, these systems provide students an unmatched visual learning experience that accelerates game improvement.
Golf instruction at the facility is based on Swingology – Simplifying the Concepts of Homer Kelley’s The Golfing Machine. Swingology is the science of the golf swing, and proves that all successful golf swings maintain a simple set of important “constants” – identical ingredients called key alignments. The swings of most PGA TOUR professionals look slightly different, but the key alignments are the same.
While most golf instruction today emphasizes “position golf,” Swingology emphasizes alignment golf. Alignment golf is superior because you can be in all of the supposedly correct positions, yet still completely miss the golf ball; if you have proper alignments, you can miss the supposed correct positions and still play good golf.
Medicus Golf, best known for its innovative line of training aids, has been expanding its reach into golf instruction through the Medicus Golf Institute. Golf instruction offerings include private instruction, golf schools and player development programs. For more information, visit http://medicuscorporation.com/golf_schools/location_augusta.aspx

Medicus Golf Secures AJGA Exemptions for Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour November 3, 2009
Posted by medicusdestin in 1.add a comment
Medicus Golf Learning Center at Emerald Bay GC in Destin, Florida, is proud to announce that they will again sponsor the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour for 2010. With this announcement though, Medicus Golf role has expanded even further to help junior golfers “Live Their Vision”.
In 2006 Medicus Golf embarked on a mission with the AJGA to assist junior golf by sponsoring the Medicus Golf Preseason Tournament Series. The Series included twenty-four events from 2006-2008 designed specifically for first-time AJGA members or those members who have not yet participated in an AJGA Open event, Invitational or Nike Golf Junior All-Star Series event.
During that time a very strong relationship was built between the AJGA and Medicus Golf. During those 3 years Randy Sparks, Director of Operations for Medicus Golf and staff spoke to approximately 1500 junior participants and approximately 2500+ parents at these events as part of the AJGA required player and parent meetings. Chuck Evans, Director of Instruction for Medicus Golf and Golf Magazine Top 100 Instructors in America and staff also provided clinics and skill challenges at the events.
Due to the above relationship Randy made contact with the AJGA and spoke of the good things happening on the Emerald Coast of Florida and Junior Golf. Specifically, the Medicus Golf Junior Development Program and the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour headed by Chris Poate and his wife Michelle.
To the pleasure of all involved, the AJGA will now provide the Emerald Coast Golf Tour, over 12 year old age groups, with exemptions for 2010. The exemptions will be based on the Medicus Cup which will be a series of six tournaments between January and the end of April. The point’s winner in each age group will then earn the exemption.
All of us at Medicus Golf are pleased to be able and provide golf opportunities and support for junior golf. Also, a special thank you goes to Jearl McCall, Director of Golf at Emerald Bay GC and Steve White, Director of Golf at Seascape Golf and Seascape Resort, where Medicus Golf operates its instruction programs. They were at the forefront in offering their support and assistance.
Of course this would not be possible without the drive of Chris Poate and his wife Michelle who took on the startup of the tour. While others may have been talking about such a tour, Chris and Michelle made it happen.

Medicus Golf Junior Leads Team to State Finals October 28, 2009

Leading into his senior year of high school golf Brett Ochsenreiter and FWB High School golf team had high expectations with the return of all its starters. Wanting to go out and just try to play no pressure golf and enjoy those last high school moments, Brett has shown that at some point in this game one must see ball, see hole and put ball in hole.
Leading the field and earning the low medalist round of 3 under 69, Brett and teammates advanced to the regionals in Tallahassee Florida. Anticipation was high but again Brett did not disappoint as he met the challenges as he once again earned medalist honors by shooting a 4 under 68. With that fine showing Brett has now lead his team to the Florida High School 1-2A State Championships.
The state tournament will be played Tuesday and Wednesday at Silver Springs Shores, The Country Club in Ocala, and the Vikings are excited after turning in their best overall performance of the season. With a “just let go” and enjoy your final high school golf rounds, we are confidant of a fine showing by Brett.
Congratulations Brett and good luck at state!

Medicus Golf Junior Development Player Wins High School District 1-A Championship October 26, 2009

Hunter Gullickson, Medicus Junior Development Player, finished with a 74, two strokes ahead of Catholic’s Justin Stills and Clay Vannoy.
Hunter, the new boys district champion, also had the right approach to his game.
Hunter made a few long putts on the way to his 2-over par finish, including a 45-foot birdie putt on No. 15.
“I just kept my driver on the fairway,” said Gullickson, a junior who is playing only his second season for the Crusaders’ golf team after putting focus on the sport last year and then joining the Medicus Golf Junior Development Program. “I putted decent. I made a few long putts.”
Great job Hunter, and good luck in the upcoming Florida High School Regional’s.
